# Change your public username

The name that you enter in [your profile](/docs/en/create-your-profile) is different from the name that appears in the Carb Manager community. While your profile name is visible only to you, your public username is visible to your [friends and family](/docs/add-and-manage-friends) and to other people in your Carb Manager community if you [post messages in Groups](/docs/view-your-feed-and-post-messages) or [participate in a Carb Manager Challenge](/docs/join-a-carb-manager-challenge). You can change your public username at any time.

1. Go to [Embedded object](https://cdn.document360.io/39f753db-7167-486f-a297-e9dee7536f7d/Images/Documentation/avatar-menu-settings.svg) **Settings**.
2. In the My Settings section, select [Embedded object](https://cdn.document360.io/39f753db-7167-486f-a297-e9dee7536f7d/Images/Documentation/settings-account.svg) **Account Settings**.
3. Select **Username**, then enter a name in the **Username** field.
4. Select **Confirm** to save the name.
