# Chat with friends and manage messages

If you have [friends](/docs/en/add-and-manage-friends) in Carb Manager, you can [view each other’s daily log, progress, and foods](/docs/en/view-a-friends-daily-log-progress-and-foods), have conversations, and help each other achieve your goals. Unlike [My Feed](/docs/en/view-your-feed-and-post-messages), where you will only see recent messages with your friends, connecting with your friends through their profile allows you to review your whole message history and start new conversations.

### Read and send messages to friends

1. Go to ![](https://cdn.document360.io/39f753db-7167-486f-a297-e9dee7536f7d/Images/Documentation/community.svg) **Connect** in the main menu.
2. Select the **Profile** tab if it’s not already selected. Recent messages between you and your friends appear in the [My Feed](/docs/en/view-your-feed-and-post-messages) section of the Profile tab, where you can read and reply to any conversation.
3. Go to the **Friends** section of the Profile tab and select a friend to open their profile screen. If you don’t see the friend you want, select ![](https://cdn.document360.io/39f753db-7167-486f-a297-e9dee7536f7d/Images/Documentation/community.svg) **Friends**to view all of your friends, then select a friend.
4. In your friend’s profile screen, select the **Connect**tab, where you can see all conversations between you and your friend and start a new conversation.

**Warning:** All conversations are public to your friend network and show in the My Feed section of ![](https://cdn.document360.io/39f753db-7167-486f-a297-e9dee7536f7d/Images/Documentation/community.svg) **Connect**.

1. To send a message, do the following steps.
  - Enter a message in the field near the top of the screen. Or select **Reply**below a message and enter your message in the field that appears below the message.
  - Select ![](https://cdn.document360.io/39f753db-7167-486f-a297-e9dee7536f7d/Images/Documentation/send-green.svg)**Send**. Your message appears in the friend’s message feed and your message feed on the Profile tab.
2. When you’re done reading and posting messages, select **X**in the top-left corner to close the friend’s profile screen.

**Tip:** You can “like” messages in your feed by tapping the heart symbol![](https://cdn.document360.io/39f753db-7167-486f-a297-e9dee7536f7d/Images/Documentation/image-1603982679153.png).**Note:** If at any time you notice inappropriate messages, use the ![](https://cdn.document360.io/39f753db-7167-486f-a297-e9dee7536f7d/Images/Documentation/flag-green.svg) Flag feature to report it to Carb Manager.

Recipients receive email and device notifications (if enabled) when they have new messages in Carb Manager.

### Edit and delete messages to friends

1. Go to ![](https://cdn.document360.io/39f753db-7167-486f-a297-e9dee7536f7d/Images/Documentation/community.svg) **Connect** in the main menu.
2. Select the **Profile** tab if it’s not already selected.
3. Find the message that you want to change. Your messages to friends appear in two places:
  - **Recent messages**: Go to the **My Feed** section of the Profile tab.
  - **All messages**: Go to the **Friends** section of the Profile tab, select a friend (or to view all friends, select ![](https://cdn.document360.io/39f753db-7167-486f-a297-e9dee7536f7d/Images/Documentation/community.svg) Friends), then select the Connect tab in the friend’s profile screen.
4. When you find the message that you want to change, do one of the following steps.
  - **To edit a message**: Select**Edit**, make your changes, and select ![](https://cdn.document360.io/39f753db-7167-486f-a297-e9dee7536f7d/Images/Documentation/send-green.svg) **Send**. Your updated message appears in the message feed.
  - **To delete a message:** Select **Delete**. Your message is replaced by a note that says you deleted the message.
5. Select **X**in the top-left corner to close your friend’s profile screen.
