# Log steps

If you have a [Premium subscription](/docs/en/subscribe-to-carb-manager-premium) and a fitness device, the easiest method to track your steps is to [sync Carb Manager to your fitness device](/docs/en/sync-a-fitness-device-or-app-with-carb-manager) so Carb Manager can automatically log your steps. Or complete the steps in this article to manually log steps in Carb Manager.

**Tip:** You can set a goal for the number of steps you want to take each day. For details, see [Set health goals for weight, activity, fasting, and more](/docs/en/set-health-goals-for-weight-activity-fasting-and-more).**Important:** If some of your steps for the day are part of active exercises, such as walking a dog uphill for 30 minutes, search for the specific exercise in our database and log your steps as an exercise instead of steps. For details, see [Log exercise](/docs/en/log-exercises).

1. Go to the [Embedded object](https://cdn.document360.io/39f753db-7167-486f-a297-e9dee7536f7d/Images/Documentation/home.svg) **Daily Log**.**Tip:** The daily log opens to today’s date. To log an item to a different date, select a date from the top of the screen. For more information, see [View any day in the daily log](/docs/en/view-any-day-in-the-daily-log).
2. Go to the Daily Workout section and select [Embedded object](https://cdn.document360.io/39f753db-7167-486f-a297-e9dee7536f7d/Images/Documentation/more-options-vertical.svg) **Options** > [Embedded object](https://cdn.document360.io/39f753db-7167-486f-a297-e9dee7536f7d/Images/Documentation/steps.svg) **Add Steps**.
3. Optional: Enter an **Exercise name**.
4. Enter the number of steps that you took that were not part of an active exercise.
5. Select **Quick Add**.

Your total steps for each day appear above the steps you logged.
