The macronutrient pie charts are based on the share of calories of each macronutrient, not their mass. Macronutrients produce the following calories per gram (approximately):

  • Carbs: 4 calories per gram
  • Protein: 4 calories per gram
  • Fat: 9 calories per gram

So, in calculating your pie chart, carbs and protein are multiplied by 4 and fat by 9 to find these values.
