Carb Manager offers three ways to track carbs:
- Total Carbs - All carbs, including fiber and sugar alcohols.
- Net Carbs - Total carbs minus fiber and sugar alcohols (used by most low carb dieters).
- Diabetes Net Carbs - Total carbs minus fiber and half of the sugar alcohols.
Diabetes Net Carbs is typically used by people managing diabetes, and is based on the recommendations from UCSF's Diabetes Teaching Center: https://dtc.ucsf.edu/living-with-diabetes/diet-and-nutrition/understanding-carbohydrates/counting-carbohydrates/learning-to-read-labels/counting-sugar-alcohols/
If you are diabetic, always consult with your physician on the best way to calculate and track carbs prior to changing your diet.
To enable tracking for diabetes carbs, first select Settings from the main (left) navigation menu.
Select the Settings tab in the top navigation menu. Then, under Carbs to Track, select Diabetes Carbs.
All carbs tracked throughout the app will now be tracked as "diabetes carbs".
