Article Summary

If you are a Premium member, you can start one of several standard fasting programs or create a custom fasting program. When you start a program, Carb Manager automatically sets a goal based on your fasting window to help you track your progress over time.

Start a standard fast

  1. Go to  Settings icon  Settings.
  2. In the Goal Settings section, select Intermittent Fasting.
  3. Select a fasting program that you want to follow or to learn more about its potential health benefits.
    • 12:12 Program — 12-hour fasting time and 12-hour eating window.
    • 16:8 Program — 16-hour fasting time and 8-hour eating window.
    • Warrior Diet — 20-hour fasting time and 4-hour eating window.
    • OMAD (one meal a day) — 22-hour fasting time and 2-hour eating window.
  4. In a program's Eating Window section, select and move the eating window to your preferred start and end times.
Note: Your fasting time is always flexible. You can adjust the start or stop times by editing your eating window in the Daily Log to match your actual eating times. For more information see Fasting Overview.
Tip: If you don't have meal time tracking enabled, starting a fast will do that automatically and Carb Manager will display a timestamp with each meal entry in the Daily Log. For more information, see Track meal times.
Tip: You can change the timestamp that is recorded when you log an item. Find a food, open a food's detail screen, and select Show Advanced to see the food's time setting. Then select the clock and change the hours, minutes, or AM/PM to the desired time.
  5. Select Start Program.
  6. Review the medical disclaimer, then select Agree to start your program.

Log food within your eating window to maintain your fast. When you're done logging food each day, mark each day as complete so Carb Manager will include your skipped meals in your nutrition totals and fasting progress.

The daily log's Intermittent Fasting section shows when your eating and fasting windows begin and how long it has been since your last meal or fast. You can also track your progress over time. For more information, see the following articles.

Tip: You can stop a fasting program at any time.

Start a custom fast

  1. Go to Settings icon Settings.
  2. In the Goal Settings section, select Intermittent Fasting.
  3. If you haven't already created a custom fasting program, select Create Custom Fast, which appears below the list of fasting programs, then enter details about your custom program. For more information, see Create and edit custom fasting programs.
  4. Select the custom fasting program that you want to follow.
  5. Select Start New Custom Fast Program.
  6. Review the medical disclaimer, then select Agree to start your program.
